Ari Goldberger, America’s well-known domain lawyer, graduated with honors in Rutgers School of Law Camden and was a member of the university’s Law Journal. In 1992, he started practicing law in Philadelphia’s top firm—Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz.

In 1994, Ari came up with the idea of an online internet law firm. “My idea was to be kind of an AOL just for lawyers. I came up with the name ESQwire” and he registered ESQwire.com as its domain name. This registration involved Ari on one of the first domain disputes after Hearst Corporation, publisher of Esquire Magazine, filed a lawsuit against him. The case was settled in 1997 and Ari retained the domain name.

On an article published in dnjournal.com June 2006, Ari recalled that “The case [filed by Hearst]…ended up getting me a lot of recognition and domain owners began contacting me to help them with their domain disputes.”

In 1997, New York Internet start-up Mail.com, Inc., formerly known as iName, hired Ari as Vice President of Business Development. While Ari was assisting Mail.com in buying and protecting domain names, he continued to operate ESQwire on the side. He left Mail.com in 2000.

Since then, Goldberger has handled a large number of winning cases including the Newzealand.com and Mexico.com cases. Currently, Ari Goldberger, is the Legal Affairs Consultant for Domain Name Journal.
